Putting Words In My Mouth
Matthew 10:19-20
19 But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
So often I am guilty of not thinking about what I am saying which usually ends up getting me in trouble. There is the rare occasion that I am overly concerned with what I say because my focus is on how I will be percieved, accepted, etc.
There are two sides to effective and influential communication that God uses in the work of the Kingdom. First, is to be aware of your surroundings. Know who it is you are talking to. Respect and courtesy are not hinderances to a prophetic vioce. Neither should I be concened with my position or accptance. I'm should care less about being impressive and more about being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. This leads me to the other thought...make sure my words have thier source in the HS. Wheter to my family, my congregation, my friends - my words should be filled with the words of God (1 Peter 4:11). It's not only in fromt of kings and rulers that deserve this effort on my part, but all those that I have God-intiatied influence with.
Lord, may the words of my mouth be pleasing in Your sight.
